How To Run Google Chrome In Windows Vista Or Windows 7 64-Bit Versions

Google’s Chrome browser has been a huge hit soon after its release, and it has surpassed Microsoft’s Internet Explorer in usage. Google Chrome is considered much faster than any other existing browsers. Another advantage of Google Chrome, which makes it a favorite of many users, is that it is less vulnerable to virus issues.

It does not matter which operating system you use, Google Chrome works great in all of them. It works fine in Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems. Google has also released the version of Chrome that runs in Microsoft’s Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 operating systems. You can also use the browser in the 64-bit versions of these operating systems. In this Windows 7 help section, we will find out how to make this browser run in the 64-bit versions of Windows Vista or Windows 7.

Steps Involved

  • If your computer has Google Chrome browser installed in it, close it.
  • Go to the official web page of Google Chrome.
  • You will find the tab Download Chrome highlighted in this page. This is the button that allows you to download the latest version of the program.
  • Click the button and download the setup file for the latest version of the browser.
  • Once the setup file is downloaded to your computer, double click to run the file. Follow the onscreen commands to complete the installation.
  • When the installation finishes, you will find the shortcut for the program in your desktop. Right click this shortcut.
  • From the different options available, choose Properties. This is the last option in the box.
  • You can find three tabs in the Google Chrome Properties window. These tabs are General, Shortcut and Compatibility. Choose the tab Shortcut.
  • Select the field Target. Put a space after chrome.exe and then enter --in-process-plugins after the space. Keep in mind that there are two hyphen marks before in-process.
  •  The above target field will have a pathname similar to C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe --in-process-plugins
  • Select the option OK and this will close the properties window.

With the above steps, you can run the Google Chrome browser in the 64-bit versions of your operating system. If you have any queries related to the steps we have mentioned above, you may contact our technical support team or contact Windows 7 help center for assistance.
